Appearance Condition & Shipping Grades

At Transocean Equipment Management we will be very honest about the shipping container’s appearance condition. Below, you will learn about the condition grades of our new and used shipping containers.

New/ One Trip

Used only once in international shipping, usually built within the last 2 years. All aspects of container are in excellent condition.
Bottom Line: As good as it gets.

A Grade

Minimal rust, doors and gaskets in very good condition. No Major dents, few if any patches in roof, floors in very good condition.
Bottom line: Excellent quality box, especially if aesthetics are a concern or if you are planning on painting the unit.

B Grade

Some rust, but still minor and superficial. No areas of rust exceeding 6 inches in diameter. Doors and gaskets still in good condition with little or no rust around hinges or seals. May have some patches in roof and floor; may have some deflections in side walls.
Bottom line: A good quality, good value unit for general storage.

C Grade

Rust is apparent but not predominant and is still superficial. Rust areas may exceed 6 inches in diameter. Doors still functional but there may be some light to medium rust around gaskets, top of doors or hinges. May have several patches in roof and floor. Floor may also have some de-lamination.
Bottom line: MOST POPULAR GRADE Not very pretty but still a good structurally sound unit.

 
d-grade-appearance-condition

D Grade

Rust is becoming structural and predominant. Doors may be hard to open and close and gaskets may be loose. Rust maybe medium to severe around the seals. Floors may be loose or have severe delamination. Sides may have large dents or deflections. Unit may be 20 years old or older.
Bottom line: Ugly but still wind and water tight. Good for locking up 4-wheelers, lawnmowers, etc.
